Here's what Rachel Chong felt about the Regional Convention in Sarawak.
The Sarawak Regionals this year for me was amazing and fun. It was many first times for me.. first trip to Sarawak, first time doing workshop and 2 sessions in a row.
It was an eye opener as I was able to experience the regionals in Sarawak with a new batch of people. There were many new ideas and creativity put into this regionals from the organising team. The mixture of OTs from all different age groups and the ever-supporting teachers certainly added some chemistry to the running of the whole programme.
I felt great satisfaction when I saw the faces of the delegates laughing and enjoying the drama workshop that Jason and I conducted. I certainly learnt a lot more about the theme 'Catalyst for Change' and gained new insights in facilitating sessions. It all seemed scary at first but hard work during preparations paid off.
It is always a great joy to come back to inspire new faces in the Lasallian world. Well, special thanks to Isaac who gave me the opportunity to be there and Marveen who was my bodyguard. Haha. This regionals have helped me to challenge myself and inspired me to look beyond myself.

St. John Baptist de La Salle’s concern for the education of the poor and the future of children led to us, as Georgians, attending this convention. His heart of gold guided him though a tough life but it was his will power and determination that gave him success. He created a proper life for poor children. His legacy will remain forever as it continues today.
The three days and two nights convention was themed ‘Catalyst For Change’. The convention was held on the 26th to 28th March 2010 at the La Salle Centre, Ipoh. Six Georgian comprising of Chin Chee Khoon, Hooi Mun Kin, Dennis Tan, Harvindran, Muva Cooghan and Seenu Reddy were given the opportunity to take part in the convention. Looking back on the 3 days and 2 nights journey, I can only conclude one thing. I am proud to be a La Sallian!

Here are some stories from the Organising Chairperson of Northern Regional Convention (and a first-time facilitator as well!) as well as a delegate from the convention.
I thought volunteering as OT for the Northern Regional Convention(NRC) was going to be like any other regional convention that I have attended previously. I was wrong. When Isaac called me up, requesting if I would kindly consent to be the co-chairperson with Ben Chan, I was pleasantly surprised. Although a little apprehensive at first, I agreed :) Planning got underway, and with only one OT meet, there was a lot of collaboration through emails that needed to be done to ensure that everything runs smoothly by the time Northern came about.
When Northern arrived, I was excited, mostly because it had been a grueling and draining week for me at work. But the moment I went through the doors of LSC, the warmth and acceptance there greeted me and I felt right at home. All throughout the two days that I was there, I was constantly amazed and inspired by the dedication of the OTs, how they will immediately chip in without a second thought, and how they will selflessly give more of themselves. Their openness and exuberance for the Lasallian spirit moved me, and their willingness to go the extra mile for you was inspiring. It reminded me why I came back to the Lasallian movement again and again, and further reaffirmed my faith in the Lasallian spirit.
I never regretted agreeing to be the chair for such a great bunch of OTs, and the facilitators were amazing as well. Thank you all, you have further inspired me to continue to be the catalyst for change for the people around me, as all of you have been the catalyst for my change.

The Northern Regional Lasallian Convention is something I’ll probably never forget. The experience there was something tremendous. I felt most confident there, more confident of myself then I have ever felt. I learned to be more patient with life and to fight and prevail through all the obstacles that come in my way. The new friendship that I found there was probably one of the most exciting things about the convention. Going there knowing nobody except those from your school and coming out of the camp knowing almost everyone felt great. I think the theme, Catalyst For Change, really got into all of our hearts and made us think for once about what we can do to be the catalysts for change.
On the 9th to the 11th of April 2010, a congregation of 35 delegates inclusive of Paulians, Franciscans and Andreans came together at the Good Shepherd’s Seminary in Malacca for the Southern Regional Lasallian Convention 2010. This year’s convention marks the 8th such event organized which was under the supervision of La Salle Centre’s very own Isaac Stephen and his organizing team. “Catalyst of Change” was this year’s theme which was chosen in hope of giving the delegates a new perspective on playing their roles as Lasallian Leaders.
This year’s convention was without a doubt, a resounding success. Fortunately enough I was able to be part of the organizing team in this year’s convention which was a completely different experience for me altogether compared to being a delegate. Needless to say the responsibility was greater, although I was left with a greater deal of satisfaction. It was refreshing to witness the fresh faces of delegates enjoying themselves throughout the convention which made all of the preparation and hard work that the organizing team went through worthwhile.
It’s fair to say that everyone one of us had something to take from the convention including the organizing team. We emerged as different individuals, each with many resolutions but with a common ambition which is to reach out and make a difference and to be the catalyst of change.
