Revival of Go Green! - Recycle Centre Help Out

Since our Formation Team Weekend 1 this year will only be held in March, are you feeling like your January has something missing?

Something along the lines of ... catching up with fellow Lasallians, taking a break from your daily routine, revisiting your Lasallian spirituality of faith, service and community?

Here's a chance for you to meet up with others and serve our community together, albeit for just a short while.

Recycling Centre Help Out

Help out in a recycling centre by doing some physical work like sorting items, shifting items, etc.

When : Saturday, 23 January 2010
Time : 3.00p.m. – 5.00p.m.
Where : Section 17, Petaling Jaya

Please drop us a comment if you're up for this. Transport can be arranged later.

Unfortunately, probably only Klang Valley folks can make it for this activity.

If you would like to invite fellow Lasallians for a trip to a Recycling Centre in your area, do not hesitate to contact us! We'll gladly loan you space on this blog for publicity purposes. =)

Facilitation Weekend

La Salle Centre's programmes for 2010 began on a high note on 9 January 2010, with the Facilitation Weekend.

The weekend can be summarised as such - a meeting that lasted for more than 8 hours, filled with fun, friendship, laughing at Isaac and Eric, food, and being Lasallian. Oh yes, and of course, a developed framework for the upcoming 2010 Regional Lasallian Leaders' Convention.

Want to find out if the group of Formation Team members invited for facilitation has what it takes to step in the shoes of our wonderful facilitators from the National Convention?

Will they be able to pass on the Lasallian spirit to the Regionals delegates?

If you're wondering what is the Lasallian spirit, then you definitely should keep an eye out for updates on the Regional Conventions and sign up as an Organising Team member!

Happy New Year!!!

A new year greeting from one of the founding members of the the process that links us all - the National Lasallian Leaders' Convention:

"I started Jan '09 preparing for a UN meet on racism. I ended '09 with an indigenous peoples meet in KL to reassert Orang Asli rights. This world still battles racism and other human rights violations in 2009. Likewise Malaysia suffers that malaise too. I wish you POWER for a better 2010. Happy New Year.

Jerald."

St Joseph's Kuching

From across the South China Sea, Nicky, Gabriel, Caesar, Sharon, Emma, Ivore and Cheryl from St. Jo, Kuching writes:

"LDOPP was held by the La Sallian Society (LSS) on 13 - 22 October 2009. A speech and slide show on child abuse were presented during assembly and this helped everyone have a clearer view about this event. Many had the impression that our society was a Catholic society, and this speech helped to clear the air about who we are and what we do.

There was an exhibition where pictures and quotes were hung along the alley from the junction to the old boys block in school compound. The exhibition was good as students were introduced to global issues on children and to the Blue Ribbon campaign which is related to child abuse.

There was also a donation drive. We had a total of RM650 collected from class to class. The funds were donated to the Salvation Army Boys Home in Kuching. Blue ribbons were given to the students when they donated.

A banner with the slogan ‘STOP WAR ON CHILDREN’ was hung next to the exhibition. Teachers and students signed on the banner to show their support. As the banner was hung for few days, there were a few complications such as cheeky vandalism but it was promptly solved.

Most teachers and students felt that the event was nice as they got to know more about the lives of unfortunate children around the globe."
