"LDOPP was held by the La Sallian Society (LSS) on 13 - 22 October 2009. A speech and slide show on child abuse were presented during assembly and this helped everyone have a clearer view about this event. Many had the impression that our society was a Catholic society, and this speech helped to clear the air about who we are and what we do.
There was an exhibition where pictures and quotes were hung along the alley from the junction to the old boys block in school compound. The exhibition was good as students were introduced to global issues on children and to the Blue Ribbon campaign which is related to child abuse.
There was also a donation drive. We had a total of RM650 collected from class to class. The funds were donated to the Salvation Army Boys Home in Kuching. Blue ribbons were given to the students when they donated.
A banner with the slogan ‘STOP WAR ON CHILDREN’ was hung next to the exhibition. Teachers and students signed on the banner to show their support. As the banner was hung for few days, there were a few complications such as cheeky vandalism but it was promptly solved.
Most teachers and students felt that the event was nice as they got to know more about the lives of unfortunate children around the globe."
